The last time I thought about Nate Dogg was last night, when I was complaining to some friends that he and Warren G weren’t at a Snoop Dogg concert in Mobile on Sunday night (despite getting billing on the show). Now the absence is quite a bit more understandable

I remember Nate mostly for his contribution to one of the greatest songs of the 90s, Regulate, as I’m sure most people do (although not my friend Derek, who once spent most of a four-hour drive to Tuscaloosa rhapsodizing about Nate Dogg’s solo album, G-Funk Classics Vol. 1 & 2).

But I also think it would be a shame if we forget that he also contributed one of the great closing lines in pop music history to the criminally underrated “The Next Episode.” Hee-ee-ee-yy-yyy, we’ll miss you.
